Sapphire Windows

Our custom sapphire windows are machined from high-purity monocrystalline aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃), tailored for optical systems working under extreme high-temperature, corrosive chemical, abrasive and high-pressure conditions — environments where fused silica and BK7 optical glass fail to maintain consistent optical stability.

    Product FAQ

Q1: What is the transmission range of uncoated sapphire windows?

A1: Uncoated single crystal sapphire windows feature a transmission curve covering 190 nm deep ultraviolet to 5.5 μm mid-infrared, with average transmittance over 85% between 300 nm and 3 μm. Dual-side anti-reflection coatings raise peak transmittance to over 98% at designated working wavelengths.

Q2: Why choose sapphire windows over fused silica windows?

A2: Sapphire offers far higher hardness, better thermal shock resistance and extended mid-infrared transmission range compared to fused silica. It withstands temperatures above 1000°C and corrosive chemical environments, ideal for laser, high-temperature furnace and infrared thermal imaging systems where fused silica fails.

Q3: Can you provide sapphire transmission curve test data with orders?

A3: Yes. Every sapphire window batch can be attached with official spectral test reports containing complete wavelength-transmittance curve data, supporting customer optical system verification and project certification.

Q4: What crystal cut is standard for your sapphire windows?

A4: Our standard sapphire windows adopt C-plane (Z-cut) orientation to minimize birefringence, suitable for most polarization-sensitive optical systems. A-cut and M-cut sapphire blanks are available via custom order.
