Accurate 90° Beam Deflection
Penta prisms deliver accurate 90° beam and line-of-sight deviation with an angular tolerance of ±30 arc seconds. They produce images free from inversion and reversal, and maintain a consistent 90° deflection regardless of incident angle. Thanks to their monolithic structure, these prisms require no precise alignment and offer higher stability compared to dual-mirror assemblies.
Aluminum-Coated Reflective Surfaces
The unique geometry of penta prisms requires coatings on their reflective surfaces. Our products adopt protected aluminum coating with a black paint overcoat for these areas, while the entrance and exit faces remain uncoated.Two Types of Penta Prisms: Roof and Standard Models
Roof Penta Prism
You will commonly find roof penta prisms inside SLR cameras. They fix the laterally reversed images from lenses and reflex mirrors. The integrated roof structure, formed by two 90° intersecting surfaces, ensures images appear in the right position.
Standard Penta Prism
Standard penta prisms are adopted for image correction modules, laser distance measurement and surveillance solutions. Since their deflection angle will not change with slight rotation, they are perfect for tasks that need accurate beam deviation and easy setup.
